About Us

The Center for Excellence in Languages (CEL): Teaching, Editing, Translating and Interpreting is affiliated to the American Foundation for Educational Excellence (AFEE, founded in 2015) and to the International Foundation for Women’s Empowerment (IFWE). We are a team of 100+ experts with decades of experience and a commitment to excellence. We are specialized in teaching languages online and/or face-to-face in interactive and fun ways. We give individualized and group lessons which we tailor to our learners’ needs in order to help them reach their objectives and gain confidence in their skills in the target language. The main languages we teach are English, French, Arabic, Spanish and Russian, and we are working on adding a few others. We are also specialized in editing, proofreading, translation and interpretation. Additionally, we create, design and edit/proofread websites in different languages. Our team members are verified and competent native speakers mainly of English, Arabic, French, Spanish, Russian, German and Chinese. We follow proven and systematic methods to deliver, swiftly and efficiently, accurate, high quality work which is always double- or triple-checked.

Our Founding Director: Nada M. Salem

• Co-created and co-taught an ONLINE Methods Course for Teachers of Foreign Languages (mainly Arabic) at the George Washington University Graduate School of Education.
• Co-Editor in Chief of “Teaching World Languages: A Practical Guide- Arabic Edition” (The National Capital Language Resource Center, Washington, DC).
• 25+ years of achievements in teaching Arabic, ASL, French (Perfectionnement Linguistique Français), FSL, English, EFL, ESL, ESP, and English Communication to secondary and collegiate students.
• 25+ years of achievements in translating and editing/proofreading Arabic, French, and English languages for literary, military, legal, engineering, medical, business, financial and political/human rights documentation.
• Selected in September 2019 as a Woman Leader by the University of Maryland‘s Kahlil Gibran Chair for Values and Peace; her name was added as a Woman Leader in the sectors of Academia, Education and Social Development in Lebanon, in the online HUB that Gibran Chair’s Women as Partners in Progress Project (WPP) is building to support women leaders as they advance women’s progress.
• Pioneer in web page creation for educational purposes: created “Nada’s ESL Island: Resources for Teachers and Students” in 1998. Has more than 1 million visitors.
• Expert knowledge and experience in developing specialized curriculums and virtual/online instruction environments.
• Executive Certificate in Public Leadership from Harvard University’s J.F. Kennedy School of Government.
• Education Doctorate in Curriculum & Instruction from The George Washington University, GWU, in Washington, DC (almost all coursework completed).
• 2 Master’s Degrees, one in Translation (Attestation de Maîtrise, ETIB, USJ) and another in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL, AUB).
• Teaching Diploma in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL, AUB).
• Bachelor’s Degree in Languages: English, Arabic, French (ETIB, USJ).
